Time Flies
What happened to time??? It's been almost a month since I posted an entry. I think I know why the absence - Twitter.
Okay, so I gave up using Twitter for myself as it was boring and I just don't need another thing to keep up with. However, at work, I set up a Twitter account and have been tweeting there every day.
It's a lot more interesting. Tweet about electric industry, green stuff, renewable energy, Santa Clara interests. I follow all kinds of green people, other electric utilities, California government agencies, and local folks. Getting into a routine, getting a voice appropriate for work, getting a balance in links to our website vs. outside links vs. re-tweeting other links.
Some excitement in seeing how a electric utility tweets a power outage due to a tornado, following their tweets real time, clicking on their re-tweets to the local TV station for more info on damage as it occurs. Also, a cheap thrill when the State of California re-tweets one of my tweets. Yes, it doesn't take much for me.
So, I figured I have in me about 1000 (for instance) words to spew everyday. If I tweet at work, I'm using up some of those 1000 words. By the end of the day, I have nothing in my brain to say.
Dang. I need to find some kind of balance. Will have to work on that.
It's time to design a new website, nothing too exciting…just my portfolio website. And I am stopped before I have begun. I've read Lea's article in A List Apart—Redesigning Your Own Site for some nudging. Maybe the key for me is to pretend this site is to never go live and I'm just doing a fun exercise using my body of work as something to fool around with. I don't know. Gotta find the key to unlock this door. I might just need it before too long.
