Here are the apps in the I Use These Almost Every Single Day category:
- Shazam: I love music. The radio pretty much sucks now days and I'm left to my own devices to find new music. However, occasionally on the radio I'll hear a catchy tune. But the “DJ” will hardly ever say the name of the song or the musician after the song. With Shazam, I just point my iPhone at the radio or TV and, voila, Shazam listens to it and sends me the info back. iTunes has been the recipient of all my Shazam finds. A nice, neat, and tidy circular solution for me.
- Google Earth: I love this app for going places I've never been. I use it mostly as a wonderful time killer. Also, I like to use it to locate the settings in books that I read. Or if a friend who is a globetrotter goes on vacation in some far off exotic location, I can see where she will be.
- Recorder: Okay, I admit I use this app for nefarious purposes. When someone starts talkin smack, I turn this app on unobtrusively and record the rant. Later, after they've cooled down and act like it never happened, I whip out my iPhone and they can listen to the proof. Mu-haha!
- myLite: I use this app for when I don't have a flashlight handy. It's great for looking for that lost shoe under the bed, or looking in the back of your car for stuff at night, or just mood lighting where you get to choose some lovely shade of blue.
- Say Who: This is a handly little app for when you're driving and you need to make a call. It's safer and less eyes off the road. I've tried the Address option, but usually with all the road noise and car noise it's been hard to get the correct address showing.
- Air Sharing: So very handy for putting files on your iPhone. I downloaded a PDF of the U.S. Army Survival Guide and have it on my iPhone for emergencies. You can use it to transfer files to and from your computer also. It comes complete with passcode. My mind always in the gutter, this seems a good way to store porn on your iPhone with none the wiser. I've learned where there's a will, there's a way.
- Now Playing: This app is so handy for those spontaneous moments when you decide it's time to go to the show. Shows all the movies in your area with links to IMDB and the trailers to movies. Also, it will show my Netflix disc and instant queues and allow me to search Netflix for a movie.
