Black Friday is this week. Which means that I only have one and a half days to shop before avoiding the stores until the dust settles after New Years. How cute, Apple's version of Black Friday.

Freedom of Information Update: You will recall my experiment in Police State of USA. I've been surprised by some of the responses so far. Everything from “take a number” to “we need a notarized signature, fingerprints, etc. to verify you are who you say you are” (FBI) to “we don't have any information on you and even if we did, we don't have to tell you about it because of Executive Order _____” (Department of Homeland Security). Will keep you posted on the rest of the results.

Mark Pilgrim rocks. Eeeew was my response to Amazon's Kindle. Here's Mark's The Future of Reading. I can listen to a book when I'm crocheting, but I read a physical book every day at lunch. I can't imagine not to be able to touch a book. The experience of the paper, the bookmarks, the cover art, the typography and design…love it! A butt-ugly little machine will come nowhere near that experience. But as they say, different strokes…
