Music and Leopard
A very interesting read: When Pigs Fly: The Death of Oink, the Birth of Dissent, and a Brief History of Record Industry Suicide..
And found from this article, RIAA Radar: “The RIAA Radar is a tool that music consumers can use to easily and instantly distinguish whether an album was released by a member of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).”
I was taken in by Radiohead. All excited to see a band that seemed to be headed in the right direction. But after learning that it was all a “marketing stunt”, I feel like an idiot for falling for it. Just added Radiohead to The Do Not Support List.
On a better note, I received my copy of Leopard via FedEx last Friday morning. I've sucessfully loaded it on Sheena, my G5, and on Molly, my MacBook Pro. I bought a 500G external hard drive to accommodate the Time Machine back-ups of both computers. Haven't had time to dig in too far other than some things appear faster.
The back-up for Sheena was pretty fast as I had the external hard drive connected to my big girl by Firewire 800. However, it took all weekend to back up Molly as I was doing it over the wireless network. Once I saw my mistake, I didn't want to stop the process and just hung in there. Finally, this morning all was done nicely.
