An Adjectival Great Audiobook
I finished listening to the audiobook, “The True History of the Kelly Gang.” What a great story to listen to as I crocheted BillyBob's afghan. Gianfranco Negroponte's reading of the story really made the characters come alive.
The only complaint I have is the censorship of words like “fuck” (ef) and “fuck you” (ef you). Also, the narrator kept saying “adjectival.” At first, I thought it was an Australian word since I never heard it before. So, I looked it up in the dictionary. It's a real word. I figured they used it to substitue for shitty or god-damned or some other descriptive phrase. But as the telling of the story went on, I got used to it and now include it in my vocabulary with a smile.
I'm now listening to “Falling Angels” by Tracey Chevalier who also wroter “Girl with a Pearl Earring.” A real change of pace going from the Outback to Edwardian England. Anne Twomey is the narrator and has a great voice for storytelling. I like the subtle changes in her voice for each character, not overdone which is so distracting.
I have “Black Sunday” by Thomas Harris on standby. I had read his “Red Dragon” and “Silence of the Lambs” long before the movies came out and so look forward to this one too.
