Before getting too far into creating another website (this one for an architect in Oklahoma City), I thought I'd check in. Have started crocheting my second afghan. Seventy squares. I might just lose my mind if not for my little addition to each square: pretty beeds. Looks like dew to me and adds subtle sparkle. I knew I'd use my beads from the 90's bead-o-mania again. And god as my witness, all my squares are now the same size thanks to this handy board.

Lion Brand Yarn not only provides over 1,000 free patterns for crocheting and knitting, they also supply the same templates that can be read by a Brailler machine for blind knitters. [Thanks, Seth]

In the midst of all ‘the economy is getting better’ talk, comes disturbing trends, What's wrong with the economy. [Thanks, Rebecca]

I went down to the Apple store the day after Steve's keynote at MacWorld and got my iLife '06. It has a lot of neat features, but the one that made me trot my ass down there so fast was making calendars in iPhoto. Shhh, but I made a calendar just for Mama. She should be getting it tomorrow. Nice job, Apple!

I tried Keynote from iWork and am I impressed. The transitions available between slides are nice, adding music from iTunes and photos from iPhoto is quite nice, but best of all is that you can export it all as a pdf, a PowerPoint presentation, or a Flash file.

Oscar and Beegus are happy with the new birdcages we ordered. So neat and tidy. The old ones will be recycled on craigslist.org.

File under Cheap Solar Thrills: Rainbow Maker. I got one for the youngest grandson for Christmas and now the oldest wants one too. I ordered an extra one for Grandma Shell too. Double your cheap thrills with this version.

Pardon me for this neener-neener moment: love, love, love Northern California weather. While some of you remain snow-bound, spring has sprung in my front yard.
