Blogher Redux
Still have a glow from yesterday's Blogher conference. I haven't been to many conferences, but this was one of the most enjoyable I've attended. I don't know if it was because women communicate better, but there was a lot of conversation. It felt comfortable to be in a non-competitive environment where one could admit to ignorance and it not be a bad thing. There was a lot of humor, a lot of energy, a lot of diverse women with opinions. And of course, I learned a lot.
Ironically, with a conference heavily attended by women with laptops, the internet/WiFi connection sucked. Brought presentations to a halt and one was taken down to the marker and a pad of paper level.
I have to say the only bad part was Mena's (Six Apart) rag on Shelley in front of everyone, and Shelley was not there to rebutt. Not very classy of Mena.
I did get to participate in a podcast with Ponzi which was a fun experiment as it was her first, my first.
One of the best sessions was Advanced Tools led by Marnie, Alexandra, and George. Here's us waving hi. It was standing room only.
A hot session was ‘How to Get Naked.’ Another standing room only session. ID bloggers Koan, Ronni, and Heather led the spirited charge.
How much to reveal. That's always been a struggle with me. At the beginning of my ten years here, I spilled almost everything. I didn't need to worry about a job, my mom, my friends reading my words. Later, when that did become a concern, I had to disconnect my ‘personal’ pages from my website, except for my little guys. Since then, it has felt like a dry site. A cautious site. Not like me. Hmmm, requires more thought…
