Local Conferences
Drawing the line

In March, I got to go to Web Design World in San Francisco. I was surprised at the number of people that weren't local. It was a good session and I got to hear Molly, Dave, and Doug talk for the first time.

Of course I brought books (The Zen of CSS Design, Web ReDesign, and Defensive Design for the Web) to be signed.

I was physically not feeling my perkiest and I got wet a lot going from CalTrain to the bus to the hotel. But I quickly found the closest Starbucks (by SFMOMA BTW) and managed to get through the conference with a good attitude and a box of Kleenex.

I've signed up for Blogher, a blogging conference for women in July. I’m ambivalent about dividing blog interests by gender. Gender, and the traits thereof, can be so ambiguous. But I do get a good dose of positivity when I'm in a space with women, particularly women who are beautiful from the inside out. I use my voice more, I admit ignorance, I celebrate knowledge and creativity. I get to be loud, obnoxious even.

Speaking of beautiful, I captured my lovely iris this afternoon.
