What Retirement? I hear ya. An early-50's boomer myself, I expect to work until I die.

Social Security—I laugh in your general direction! Too depressing if you're under 50, but have you seen the cost per month of assisted living housing? I can barely afford the duplex I have now and I'm working.

One option: I'm trying to talk my lovely daughter into building a mother-in-law house for me in her back yard. She has a pool and my needs are few, just an internet connection, and I stay to myself pretty good. She's not going for it yet, but I still have a few years to work on her.
