Louise's Books
On the heels of the manic period of hypernesting begun in August and gradual completion thereof in December, I'm now enjoying the fruits of my labor by having a quiet, normal weekend. So, this is what it feels like…
With severe weather yesterday and rain for today and the lingering sadness over losing Jimmy, videos and popcorn are all I need this weekend. I think the jumping back into the fray can wait until Monday.
In the meantime, one of my favorite things to do on a normal weekend morning is to read in bed. Yesterday morning I had the pleasure of finishing my Louise Erdrich book marathon begun last April with the reading of “The Master Butchers' Singing Club” and ending with “Four Souls.” Great way to wrap it all up.
Books read: “The Master Butchers' Singing Club,” “Tracks,” “Love Medicine,” “The Beet Queen,” “The Bingo Palace,” “The Last Report on the Miracles at Little No Horse,” “Tales of Burning Love,” “Four Souls,” and “The Antelope Wife.” I really enjoyed her compassion, humor, and ability to tell both sides of a good tale through several books.
It was pointed out to me by fellow voracious reader, Leslie [BTW here are the details on that hat], that Alice Munro, whose previous books I had already lapped up by last March, has a new collection of short stories out, “Runaway.” The book arrived on my doorstep Friday. I jump in tomorrow.
