Yes, my fellow Michelles, it's a sad fact. There are Michelles out there without a webpage. They email. They tell me their Michelle story. They say tell the other Michelles that we said hi. Their lovers even write saying nothing is better than being with a Michelle. Well, this Michelle thinks it's high time that these Michelles were heard. And so, here they are - Grounded Eagles: Michelles Not of the Web. |
| chelle | hiya. great name :) great page. but what else do you expect from Michelle? my michelle story. well. VERY few people in this world are allowed to call me by my true name. the rest get chelle. i've got to be careful who i allow to ring my name. the very sound of it makes me vulnerable. hearing "Michelle" out loud. eek. i can only handle that so much. |
| Michele | I'm Michele too, but with a single L, not my fault though. I was told that it was the man who worked in the birth certificate section thought he had all the might to drop the extra one. I used to feel 'handicap', until one day in my art history class that I found out it could be spelled this way according to the Italians, but with a different pronunciation. |
| Michele | My name is Michele. My name was planned to be Gertrude after my great grandmother. My mother did not like that name very much, she liked Patricia. When my mother went into labor, my father rushed her to the hospital in a taxi cab. The cab driver had the radio on, it was playing "Michelle" by the Beatles. And the rest is history. I guess I owe some thanks to Paul, John, George, and Ringo. If it was not for that song, I would be answering to names like Trudie or Patty. Instead, I got Smelly Shelly from my brother. |
| Janis Michelle | i have a wonderful daughter named janis michelle. i couldn't have ask for any better! she graduated 3rd in her class![high school] she is now a sergeant in the u s army. she was and is very fit, intellegent and very pretty! her sense of humor always kept me up when i was down. i love my michelle more than anything in this world, including me... |
| Michelle (in West Virginia) | Speaking of that song the guy sang to you in French... I'm starting to really hate it. I had a teacher in 7th grade, who every time he saw me or passed me in the hallway, felt compelled to sing that to me. There. I've got that off my chest. I feel MUCH better. |
| Michelle | By the time I was born in 1968, Michelle had become a very popular name. I had about two others in my homeroom alone during school. I remember when I was a little girl, a friend of my parents used to call me "Mee-chelle my bell", and I wondered why in the world he was calling me a bell. Then when I was fifteen, I was introduced to the song "Michelle" by my mom. That's not how I got my name, but hey! Who cares? It's a great name anyway. |
| Michelle | I am a 32-year old left-handed Michelle. Married almost 14 years with four beautiful children ages 13, 11, 9 and not quite 8. What a great thing this is and just tonight I was saying something to my older sister about that dumb Beatles song (I really never did like it and got teased in schoolf for like - ever)...the oldest sister got to pick my name...for years though I've gone by Mimi and Michelle both, but Michelle is the "professional" name. Oh, someday I'll make a webpage and be proud to have it here on this awesome Michelle page. |
| Michelle aka Michy | I wasn't named Michelle until I was 5 years old. Up until then, I was called by my Korean name, Mi Hyun. I've only heard one or two-non-Korean people pronounce "Hyun" correctly in my lifetime (it's a single syllable, not Hi-Yun or Hee-Yun as the English tongue wants to prounounce it), and people often simply called me "Mi". Well, you can probably already guess how much confusion that caused, so after I entered Kindergarten, my parents decided I needed an English name. I remember reading through Baby Name books (yep, I was a smart little squirt), looking through dozens of names and their meanings. I wanted to name myself Kathy, because that was the name of my best friend at the time. Thank God my parents overrruled me on that one! I'm pretty sure they settled on Michelle because it started with the same two letters of my Korean name, but the meaning--"beautiful" (and "who is like God," I later learned)--isn't too shabby. After my name was made legal, I went to school, sat in a chair at the front of the room, and shared my new name with everyone for Show-And-Tell. Years later, I came across the Baby Name book that my parents and I looked through. It was strange to see all the other names that had been considered--made visible by the underlining and check marks in the marings--and to think that I might have grown up a Kathy, Sarah, or Bridget. Now, I realize that I am a Michelle all the way down to the marrow of my bones and am proud to join my sisters in the quest for global domination! |
| Michelle "Shelby" B. | This Michelle is a huge music freak who sings too. Who lives in Chiltown N.J. and loves to chill with her pals. |
| Michelle Boudreau | I was named after the Beatles song and had it sung to me so many times that now I detest it greatly. I am also named after a cousin of my mother, who was very feminine and delicate...lol...boy, did I not live up to that! I'm a musician, being that I sing and play the piano, Rennisance recorder, violin, cello, guitar, and drums. (I'm still trying to get discovered...anyone? Anyone?) I'm also studying to be a recording engineer and just pout out a CD that I helped produce. I will be going to the University of Northern Colorado, Fall '98 (majoring in music/theatre performance, of course). I like Meat Loaf, Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Far From The Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy. My idols are Andrew Lloyd Webber, Mozart, and Rachmanninoff. If there's any Michelle out there that is into these sorts of things, feel free to write me! |
| Michelle Brock | I cannot believe that I found this web-site!!! I never thought that so many people who have the same name as I do would have so many similar thoughts and experiences with this awesome name. The name Michelle is feminine and powerful; I have grown to love it over the years. |
| Michelle Brown | I've always throught my name was extremely boringMichelle Brown. There were three Michelle Browns at UW-Milwaukee while I was doing my Ph.D. work, and I kept getting email invitations to house parties because of it! Luckily, my parents got creative on the middle nameAndromedaand now that I've gotten married it's Michelle Andromeda Brown Nephew. My favorite versions of it, though, are my childhood nicknamesShelly Bean and Screaming Mimi. Can't you just tell what a loveable child I was? ;) |
| Michelle Carroll | Hi! I'm currently in 9th grade, and I go to Center Junior High in Antelope, California. When I was in fourth grade, I made the honor role, and I had to accept an award in front of the whole school among other students. When the principal called out my name, he said, "Michael Carroll, please come up and accept your award!" Everyone was laughing at me, and I'm still hearing about it to this day! I've had many more embarrassing experiences with my name, but I wouldn't want to bore you with the details. |
| Chelle Cedillo, A Texas Gal | Thought I'ld tell ya a little of my story.I WAS named after the Beatle's song. My mom was a beatle freak. I love my name. But after awhile (and I sure you noticed) everyone who I was/am close to eventually ends up calling me Chelle. I spell it that way 'cause it's a little different. |
| Michelle Chovan | What a great website!!! I'm not officially on the Web yet (though I can peruse from work), but when I get out there and get my own page setup I'd definitely like the join the ranks of Michelles on the Web. What a Michelluva good job! |
| Michele Clouse | I love this site! I have had to deal with being called Michael and Melissa (yeah, I don't understand that one either). I'd just like to say that my name isn't misspelled. It's perfect the way it is! (Although I do tend to receive 2 copies of just about everything from my school, one to Michele and one to Michelle) My parents tell me that they misspelled my name at my kindergarten placement test. The woman didn't believe me when I corrected her. Ever since then, the school has rarely ever gotten my name right. Oh well, 'tis the plight of a Michele. |
| Michelle E. Connor | I too, get called "Michael" in school, because on the teacher's roll books there is just enough room for my last name and "Mich" of my first name. There's a guy at my work that sings the "Michelle" song to me, but he changes the words everytime and it's really funnyonce he was singing "Mee Chelle, My Belle, If I sing this one more time she'll tell me to go to hell." Oh, and ever since the movie "American Pie" came out I am forever taunted with "Hi, my name is Michelle, and in band camp..." Just thought I'd share my experiences. |
| Michele D. | I was really pleasantly surprised to see there was a real Michelle page on the web, as my name is Michele. It's NOT written the WRONG way, only the French way. I'm actually from Belgium, with Dutch as my native language. I don't know whether you got the information you give on those several Michelle's by reading their home pages or not, but as I'd like to be listed and as I don't have my own home page (yet), I'd like to give you kind of a short text about myself: "This Michele, born on July, 8th 1979 is a student in Engineering at the University of Ghent, Belgium. She loves theater - as well active as passive - , astronomy, music ( REM, Live, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, etc), dancing and having fun. She's crazy about anything that's blue (sea, sky, grapes, etc.) and her objective in life is to sea the Earth from outer space once." Their might be some mistakes in this, as English is not my native tongue, so you can correct them, as well as giving your own interpretation. I'll let you know as soon as I have my own home page. |
| Michele Dimapasoc | Hello. My name is Michelle, and I'm 17-years-old. My parents named me Michelle because it was the femanine name for Michael, which would have been my name if I turned out to be a boy. I have lived with my name all my life along with the uniqueness of certain features, my white hair. When I was born, I had white hair. It was very strange, nothing anyone has ever seen. My grandparents tell me I get it from one of my ancestors. When I was a child, I was tormented mostly because of the color of my hair. It was strange seeing a Filipino girl with brown skin and gray hair (my hair became darker as time progressed). As a result, the name Michelle in my schools became associated with the color of my hair. All the children would gawk at me and say, "There goes Michelle, that freak of nature." I'd cry about it when I'd get home. But one day, I realized that I should be the only one to care about how I look. And soon, the name Michelle around my school became a word that meant bright, talented, funny, generous and so forth. Now, I cherish my name. |
| Michelle Dorado, via Sandie Huffstutler | My granddaughter, Michelle Dorardo, was called Chelle by everyone except me. When she was about three, she began calling me "Miss Grammy". When I asked her why, she said, "Because you call me Miss Chelle". |
| Michelle Corene Flores | Hi! Wow, I am so thrilled to have stumbled upon this page! My name is Michelle Corene Flores. My parents almost named me "Corene Michelle" but switched it at the VERY last second. Whew. I live in WA. My Net Name is Mikkaila; a friend once told me that was "Michelle" in Hawiian. Anyway. I am in love with France and anything that has to do with it. When I was 5 I wanted to change my name. Of course until I found out from which country My Name originated. Now I hold my head up high. *smirk* |
| Michele Flynn, via Maraga Flynn | My mom spells her name MICHELE Flynn and she used to get the same misunderstanding in school (having teachers call her Michael). When she had kids, she wanted them to have normal names because she didn't want them to go through the same problems as she did. To say the least, she lost to my dad (who wanted original names) because my name is Maraga and my sister's name is Brean. No one has ever heard of my name (and teachers can never get it right in school, but my sister's a little better). Thanks for listening and if you have any ideas on if I could find someone else with my name, please send them to me. |
| Michelle Friedman | My 8-1/2 year old daughter is named Michelle. She would love to receive some e-mail from another Michelle (she cannot receive any pictures). Could you please send her something nice, or just a letter? Do you have all the words to the Michelle song? I tried to remember them all but I am not sure I did. Thanking you in advance, her mom, Margaret. |
| Michelle Irish | When I was ten, my mother's boyfriend looked at me and rolled my name off of his tongue. "Michelle", he said. "Mih-shell". "What a crappy name that is. What man is going to want to say, Michelle, I love you?". Well, I swear, I had such a complex about my name after that, and I still do. I sign email as Mich, or Michie. I almost feel embarrassed to have my name. I hope I will come to love my name as other Michelle's of the world do. BTW, if I EVER hear another cheesy rendition of 'Michelle, my belle', I think I shall puke. |
| Michelle Jackson | Does "I'll see you in Michelle" sound too dirty? :) (Actually, I wouldn't mind saying that to Brendan Fraser.) Or, "I hope you burn in Michelle." Also, I used to go by "Chelle" but the stupidity of my family and friends not being able to comprehend that is is merely Michelle without the "Mi," has forced me to use "Shell." I wanted to get "Chelle 13" put on my car license plate, but it was taken so I got "Chell 13" and my OWN FATHER, WHO NAMED ME, thought it meant "See Hell 13" and asked me if I was in a cult or something!!!!! (Pitifully, that is a true story.) Oh, the humanity. I guess I should just be thankful that my parents spelled my name correctly at birth. |
| Michelle Lauren Kahan | my friend, michelle lee, wrote you just a few minutes ago after i sent her the link for your webpage. but what she kinda forgot to mention is that we have almost the same exact name. her: michelle lee kahan. me: michelle lauren kahan. she prounounces her last name ka-hon, and i pronounce mine like con. we've been friends since we were little. she's a year younger than me, and our moms always tell us the story about how they mixed us up one year in camp and i was with a bunch of kids wearing diapers and she was with a bunch of kids who were older than her. (obviously, we were little kids.) and about two years ago, we went to the same camp again and i had to sign everything michelle lau and she had to sign everything michelle lee, i got her mai, she got my mail, etc. we always have a hell of a time fooling our friends that don't know us - i'm michelle kahan. no, you're not. yes i am. |
| Michelle Kuechle | My name is Michelle too. I am a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a BS in Electrical Engineering. I'm currently working for StorageTek - Network Systems Group. |
| Michelle Lee | I too am a Michelle, Michelle Lee. Not hard to figure out who I was named after, the actress Michelle Lee. Fortunately for me, my grandmother named me. I don't even want to know what I might have been named. My family and friends call me Shelly. However, I love to hear the Beatles song, whether it be on the radio or someone singing it as they pass me on the hallway to work. And I have a phone bandit who calls me and plays that song to me. It's great to be Michelle! |
| Michelle Lim | Most people call me Mich or Mish. Closer friends are allowed Michi. But I am fscinated by 'Chemelle' (which I just read about). Well, I feel that Michelle, as a name, rocks! The only drawback I can think of to it is that utterly irksome Beatles song. I had a science teacher who yes, felt compelled to sing it every time he called on me in class. And yeah, there are just too many Michelles in Singapore. I personally know about six, and know of many more. To compound the fact, Lim is one of the most common Chinese surnames there is. But even though it gets consfusing when people call out my name and four others turn around, I couldn't ever imagine going by any other name. (Now, to just write a nicer "Michelle" song...) |
| Michelle Louise Louth | Hey I am called Michelle!!!!! I am 13 and i live in Cheltenham, in southwest England, I go to Bournside school and i am planning to take graphic design and english. I enjoy sports (hockey, netball, tennis, rounders, athletics etc.) and drama and i also like to party with my friends. I just thought i'd write that. |
| Michelle McDonald | Why my parents named me Michele, I have no idea. Not only did they name me a name that no one else did, they didn't even spell it normal. To top that, my middle name was also weird. Michele Regine McDonald? Huh? A very French spelling, combined with an Irish las name, Whaaa? I was the only girl named Michele in my grammar school in San Francisco, CA. In junior high, I was enrolled in boys PE class; yeah, I went, but they kicked me over to the girls class. No sense of humor! And then the Beatles came out with 'The Song'. I really hated it, up until just recently. My great grandfather used to call me anything but my name, Marcha Marsha, Marchelly, etc. To top that, my mom wouldn't let anyone call me a nickname. My mom's friend used to call me Mickey Mouse. My aunt used to try to call me Missi, but mom always corrected them. Boo. But my dad would call me his Shell. That seemed ok, and no one else calls me that, so it seemed special. I have since grown used to my name, and kinda like it. I am a Michele and DAMN proud of it!! Needless to say I love this site! As far as the spelling, well...beats the Michele outta me! Have a very Michele day, From Michele. |
| Michelle McQuade | Hi, I'm Michelle, too, and found your site on Yahoo! The whole thing cracks me up. I think I'll start a web site for the sole purpose of being included on your web page. (I reckon that earns me a ribbon?) Thanks for the idea...it's fun! |
| Michelle Miller | I'm a fellow Michelle but without a page. Many people sing to me in school, but it's nice sometimes. I also get a variety because my nickname is Sunshine so they sing those songs too. I used to not like my name when I was younger, but now I love it. Later to all the Michelles out there. |
| Michelle Patterson | From one Michelle to another - Your page Rocks!! And why shouldn't it- it's all about Michelles!! I just stumbled upon it. What a great idea for a web page. I loved 'Spreading the M-word'!! Keep spreading the word!! |
| Michelle Power | My Michelle story is that as a kid I HATED my name--I was the only person I knew named Michelle until I was about 14. I remember being in 4th grad and trying to talk my mom into changing my name to Judy (you know, like Judy Garland...). I must be one of the old ones amoungs us! Anyway, nice to be part of the gang. |
| Michelle Pruit | I've been a Michelle for 35 years now and I'm damn proud of it. I am a mother of three teenagers and still have most of my sanity. 17 years ago I married a man named Michael who's birthday is the day after mine! We live in Washington State and enjoy camping, motorcycle riding and boating. I was named Michelle because my father, Michael, told my Mother before they were married that their first girl would be named Michelle. He didn't care what she named a boy or what my middle name would be as long as the first name was Michelle. I guess he knew how special the name was. |
| Michelle Velma Rathi | I'm Michelle Velma Rathi, and Indian from Singapore. I love my name even though it is kinda common. I was really surprised when I somehow got into that homepage of yours. I never knew there was such a mystery behind my name. Now I am even more proud of it. Well, some of my friends tease me and say, "Me shell sells sea shells on the sea shore." |
| Michelle Shell | From Michelle's Dad, Derek: "This girl has it hard enough being named the same a 4 or her friends, but even worse her last name is Shell. what kind of parents could do this to a child. Michelle Shell easy to remember but kinda hard to live with. could you please publish her sad story on your grouned eagles website. it's time for this girl to get her story told and for all the michelles out there just be glad you dont have her last name. |
| Michelle Smith | Dear All Michelle's out there, Hello! It's nice to know you're all out there. I find that the name Michelle is not that popular around my parts, but it does make me feel unique and special! I don't get people coming up to me to sing the Lennon and McCartney song, but my dad did name me after the aforementioned song. I do get a little twinge when I hear it. My fiance also sings the song to me reguarly in a very sexy voice. The reason for the title is that at the moment on British TV there is a program called "A Woman Called Smith" which deals with women who are called...Smith! I now have two reasons to feel proud. I do like my name but often felt let down by the Smith part which made the rather French beginning and middle (Therese) seem quite mundane. However in 10 months time I will become a Michelle Therese Aduhene. I don't think there will be many Michelle's out there who will have the same name and I believe I will be the only one in the world. Well I must go now. I have to apply for teaching jobs. Yes I am to become a Miss Smith, alas for the children I teach when I marry. I would love to hear from any more Michelle Smith's. |
| Michelle Smith | I just can't believe all of the messages and Michelle homepages out on the net. I was pleasantly surprised to read that many of the Michelles were called Michael like I was--mainly at the beginning of the school year by a new teacher or substitute. I used to shrink when it was close to my name at roll call. Anyway, in high school, I was joined by two more Michele's and noticed they spelled their name different. I got a kick out of the message on the page saying Michelle's who spell their names wrong. ha ha!! I was also serenaded by the famous Beatles song though I did not actually hear it sung by them until about a year ago. I am now 22 and had never heard the song all the way through. My close friends gave me the nickname Chelle, pronounced like Shell. I have really enjoyed reading so many Michelle experiences so close to my own. :o) !!!!! |
| Michelle Smith-Keebler | Did you know that Michelle in Hawaiian is: Mikala? |
| Michelle Spagnolatti | I am 26 and I really like my name, but I could have been VERY badly off! When my mother was pregnant, my parents had decided that if they had a girl, my mom would choose the name, and if they had a boy, my dad would. Well, my dad chose "Gino" and my mom prayed every night for a girl! Not that there is anything wrong with that name...I just couldn't imagine "ME" having that name! When I was a kid I was a real stickler for people calling me by my full name, but I no longer mind so much, so I let people call me "Chelle" or "Mitch" on occasion. :) |
| Mychelle Szarka-Cruise | No, I don't have a homepage, but I would really like to see my "mispelled" name on your page! My parents don't really approve of the spelling, so I have to wait till I am 18 to change it legally. Right now I spell it that way on everything, but legal documents and job applications. Well, I think I have the best spelled MYCHELLE. It is exotic and it is a great conversation starter. When people ask me things about myself, I say, I spell my name different and it always gets an interesting response. |
| Michelle Tarrant | When I was born in 1979, and my father found out I was the first girl after three boys, he was quite shocked. Upon telling the nurse my name, she begged my dad to change it saying that there were too many Michelles and that the name was ugly. I love it, and thank God my daddy did too! |
| Michelle Teixeira | I rarely write to web pages, but a Michelle web page is just awesome. The difficulties with my name usually dealt with my last name. I only let my friends call me Mich when I was younger. Nobody does anymore and I kind of miss it. Last year a boy started calling me Chemelle. As you can see from my e-mail address it stuck. I even had it put on my windbreaker. Oh I'm eighteen and president of my school. Don't Michelle's rock? There is something right now(I can't for the life of me remember what) that has my name but only fits up to the first "L' so it looks like a boy in france. But I like that. Especially because of my new Audrey hepburn haircut. Am i rambling? I'm just so excited. I didn't used to like my name, but now I love it. And it just sounds so good whenever my boyfriend says it. His name is Matt. Wouldn't our monogramed towels look great? Later, I suppose. Well, yeah...that was a really good page and I look forward to visiting it again. |
| Mishel VandeKamp | I'm a former Michelle that has been a Mishel for about six years. I'm an undergrad music major at California State University Long Beach studying choral vocal music education and creative writing. I liked your page; I always knew there were enough Michelles in the world to have our own sub-culture (or at least website.) |
| Mishel Vogt | I am currently working on my page in my *cough* spare time....and I will be sure to let you know the URL. SO what do I do and where do I live? I'm in Southern California, working at the University of California, Riverside. Even though I have a degree in psychology I am working as a purchasing assistant while exploring the world of graphic design. (go figure) For fun I kickbox, jazzercise, go camping and fishing, play clarinet...and I love to read and draw. I have three "Jersey made" cats so I find myself shedding quite often, even in my sleep! Oh-and I'm a leo =) |
| Michelle Weslie | Michelle, Shell, Shelly, Chelle, whatever...it's still me. I've had many fun experiences with my name throughout my short life of 16 years. The songs "Michelle My Bell", "My Michelle" and also featured in "C'mon 'N Ride The Train", school dances has never been a bore. When "The Train" is played, my friends turn to me to play the part. Not only do the songs make me proud of my name, but also does the thought of my late grandfather. He nick-named me Chelle-Bug. Hearing that always brings me back to my grandfather and brings a smile to my face. |
| Michelle Wisbith | I found (I was going to say, "stumbled upon", but true Michelle's DON'T stumble) your site unintentionally and I'm very glad I did! My sense of humor has always been on the dry, witty, and understood by few side. After reading through your site, I think it was because I just wasn't hanging around enough other Michelle's to be appreciated :). As a child I always wanted to play sports with the boys, but was told it wasn't "ladylike". So I circumvented the rules and managed to get the superintendent of our school to start a girl's basketball team that is still in place today. After school pick-up football games filled the rest of the urge. My latest accomplishments include selling our house and packing up our entire belongings (even had the washing machine disconnected and sitting by the back door), by myself, while taking care of three children, ages 3, 6, and 8. (My husband is wonderful and would have helped if it weren't for the fact that his job had required him to move -800 miles away - five months earlier). And then once we arrived in the new town, acting as contractor/builder on our new house. I did a bunch of stuff on the house, from waterproofing the foundation, running phone, cable and plumbing lines, painting interior and exterior, staining all woodwork/baseboards, and then some. Now...the landscaping is in progress and looking great! At any rate, I wanted to let you know that our daughter carries the name Michelle as her middle name, and I have a submission for the cadence on your site. |
