FIVE MORE DAYS

One thing I've been meaning to mention for several days: The Head Lemur has added a new section to his lovely Zone - p i x e l v i e w. He was kind enough to include me in his new project, but look at the good company he has me in: Jeff Clark, Doc Searls, Joe Jenett, Shirley Kaiser, Nick Finck, Daniel J. Cody, Heather Champ, and Carole Guevin.

Am getting a cheap buzz from too much Lysol Basin and Tile Cleaner...

SIX DAYS UNTIL MAMA

In the midst of mucho cleaning, I did manage to squeeze in a little time to cruise the Web:

Design Not Found. What works and what doesn't. Great idea.

Sad to lose George Harrison so early.

Price gouging in the energy market brings bad karma and a few other things to Enron.

Back to the pots and pans...

BROKE LOOSE

Just found out this weekend that Mama will be spending Christmas with Sherah and I for the first time since the 70's. You can imagine the amount of deep cleaning going on in both of our houses at this very moment. Well, if I'm not actually doing it at this very moment, you can see I'm thinking about it.

I can do my Web work through layoffs, through disasters, and other rollercoaster rides, but I find myself oddly inhibited right now.

GOBBLE

Am trying to wade through Jakob's new book, "Homepage Usability", but it's a slow go as I cough and splutter while searching for nuggets of info.

He comes across not in a nice way. For instance, accessibility, which is not even covered at all except for this remark:

While some of our individual site reviews point out major design issues that would impede people using assistive technology, accessibiilty is too large a topic to do due diligence in these guidelines. We refer you instead to our detailed guildelines for accessibility at http://www.Nngroup.com/reports/accessibility.

Once there, you can then see those guidelines for a mere $190. I like to read other people's POV, but this is gonna be a tough one.

But thank God these people don't mind sharing—Exchange photos. (Thanks, Beth.) And these people—PixelPile: A Community PhotoLog.

And Jeff shares even though he profits from it: Profiting from Pro Bono Creative Efforts. Be sure and check out all of Jeff's creative logos.

Ivan shares some good legal info: Using Domains as Leverage to Collect a Debt. (Thanks, Steve.)

Daisey shares her tips on how to achieve that shattered effect in Photoshop.

More sharing from the Naked Mole Rat, Jalalabadobe.

Low End Mac takes a survey and shares its top 56 Mac websites list.

Halcyon shares his predictions, The Future of Independent Web.

Dave shares his opinion, Getting in Synch with Moore's Law. One of the statements Dave made was:

Technology supports human intellect and expression, it doesn't define it.

The Economist shares its style guide. I like their Do's and Don'ts.

Of local interest: We've all heard of the light bulb in the Livermore fire station that has been burning for 100 years. They're sharing the experience.

Dave shares his Manly Tips for Bachelor Living. Would love to do the companion piece, "Womanly Tips for Bachelorette Living", but I have a propensity for getting married and haven't really had time to be a bachelorette for very long.

But here's a potential title that more along my line: "Surviving Married Living: Tips for the Long Haul". Starting with acquiring that wide roll of tape for marking off his and her territory on the coffee table, the computer table, and the kitchen table. No nagging needed, and isn't that what you both want?

p.s. Note to me: Matt's weblog, Jason's weblog, Wisenut search engine based in Santa Clara, Web Typography Tutorial, search online Elements of Style, and I like this scrolling box with c-thru background and this this colored scrollbar and slider button...squeezin it all in before I do a Resource Guide update.
