Am fortunate enough to have landed on a temporary perch where I'll be able to catch my breath and re-group.
Decided to take this week to shake off the tension that's been running under my skin since January. Wanted to revisit the Apple Tree Inn as it was a great tension reliever last year, but Yosemite's smokin'.
I ended up renting a red convertible (automaticyuck) for five days. Last Friday, Honey and I lathered on the sunblock and headed south. We stayed at the Sheraton by LAX one night, visited Huntington Beach the next day, and spent the night at another Sheraton by Disneyland. If you note the fuzz in the picts, that's called smog.
[BTW Jeffrey mentioned Jeff's comparison between the East and West Coast beach cultures. Would be interesting to do a comparison of Southern and Northern California beach cultures which are totally different heads.
For instance...
Southern California: You wake up in the morning and decide to go to the beach. You spend hours looking for a parking place.
Northern California: You wake up in the morning and decide to go to the beach. You pick your beach and park on the side of the road.
Southern California: At the beach you play volleyball, layout on a blanket, or actually get wet.
Northern California: At the beach you climb rocks, take long walks, or investigate tide pools.
Speaking of different heads...
From designboom, answering the question: what is the origin of the famous 'playboy' rabbit head? As an admirer of wascally wabbits, I was curious myself.
Also from Jeffrey's site, comes a link to Get a Job! And Get Out of My Coffee House, Too. I find this articles to be a pretty accurate assessment of the way things are out there. The non-profit slant seems to be the latest bandwagon to jump on.
File under Pure Speculation: Apple to buy out Palm.]
Back to the vacation...
Coming home, Honey and I spent two and half hours crossing 152 to 101 looking at the back of this trailer. Sounds like a webpage to me.
Yesterday was Bridge Crossing Day. Here's the Bay Bridge, and the bottom half of the Golden Gate. If you note the fuzz in the picts, that's called fog.
After eating lunch at Half Moon Bay, we stopped by Kepler's for a last splurge: books! One of the books I got was The Artist's Quest for Inspiration. One of the exercises to help inspirational focus was to write down five things that you think of the most during the day. Four out of five for me all dealt with loss of some kind. Which is probably more telling than inspirational.
So now, here I sit, computer somewhat restored, job in hand, some money in the bank, new clothes, Rhonda's all sparkly, and yet I feel none of it. Maybe I'm numb. Maybe feeling will return once I get to moving around again.
