Feeling muy urban today: Urban Explorers links, Train Hopping (see their How to Hop A Freight Train), Abandoned Places, and Modern Ruins (see Phillip's 360 degree Quicktime VR of B-52's in an airplane graveyard).

I like taking pictures of abandoned things too. Like a building by the train tracks, a pile of tires by the train tracks, and boats abandoned to the silt. Speaking of, here's three pictures side-by-side of the results of silt building over time (1989/1999/2001) around a dock.

STARTING TO PISS ME OFF

Okay, I've been reading more on Microsoft's Smart Tags. I don't know why am I continually amazed at their arrogance and disrespect for the Web and people's rights.

Their solution: If you don't want Smart Tags to appear on your website, add this tag to all of your webpages: <meta name="MSSmartTagsPreventParsing" content="TRUE">

Apparently the 'user' can tell the software to ignore the meta tag. Here's how. Geeez...

While you're here be sure to check out their handy dandy solution for disabling the image toolbar from appearing on your images.

So, like, why do I have to go through my 200+ webpages and add additional proprietary code to keep Microsoft from raping and pillaging my site?

• The Privacy Practices of Web Browser Extensions
• ICANN to Gauge Privacy Concerns Over WHOIS Database
• The use of Microsoft's Smart Tags is generating a lot of hub-bub. Still waiting for some of the dust to settle to see what the hey is going on.
• But here's a breath of fresh air: Part One of Respecting User Privacy from IBM's developer Works. (BTW If you're in charge of FAQs, you'll want to read their notes on creating an effective FAQ.)
